1966 Northwestern Africa Map"Freedom Speaks French in Ouagadougou" - that was the title of an article published in National Geographic in August 1966 along with this map of North West Africa. Ouagadougou is the capital of the Republic of Upper Volta, which was later renamed Burkina Faso. It became independent from France in 1960. The map shows numerous cities and towns, roads, airports and geographical details such as mountains, rivers, lakes and deserts.
